Lately, people have been asking me about how I work, what program/tools/textures/brushes I use for my semi-realistic digital illustrations. So I thought I'd make a detailed tutorial to explain the making of one of these artworks (i.e. the latest illustration in my Race Against Time
series, featuring dear Fíli and Kíli who were kind enough to demonstrate). I've always loved reading tutorials made by other artists and find out how they work, so hopefully you guys will like this one too ! (As for me, I had a lot of fun making it.)
I've done my best to explain every step of the process with screenshots and all, but to understand this tutorial, you still need basic Photoshop knowledge. If you've never used Photoshop (or an equivalent program like GIMP or Paint Tool SAI), if you don't know what a layer or a brush is, I'm afraid you will be a little lost here.
I hope you'll enjoy it and that it will be useful for some of you (I've added a little bonus at the end : a list of Photoshop keyboard shortcuts.
) If you have any more questions, ask away (but please read the whole thing first!).
