Well, hello there!

I can't believe it's been years since I last posted on here. Where has all that time gone? I've been so busy working on multiple projects (oh, and starting a new life in a new country) that I abandoned DA a bit - which is sad, because I really like this platform and its community.

In the past few months, I've been rethinking and restructuring my presence on social media - I made choices, left some, developed others. I completely remodeled my art website, opened a separate art account on Instagram, and am about to dive into the grand adventure of Youtube (something I've been wanting to do for five years). And, last but not least, I'd like to start posting here again.

Since you guys haven't heard from me in ages, let me fill you in on what I'll be sharing. I'm currently working on two comic book projects:

Bullet; Orange Checkmate, a webcomic based on David Lynch's TV series Twin Peaks, serving as a prequel. The third volume is currently being published online; after a hiatus, Checkmate is scheduled to return in early 2019. I'm excited.

Bullet; Orange
Ophiuchi Fratres, an original story set in the early 18th century. The sea, sailing ships, pirates, secret societies and dark secrets... I call it a "period adventure thriller". My goal for this one is to have it traditionally published. Ophiuchi... is my "big project", the one I've been working on for, uh, 13 years. Yeah. (Damn, we're not getting any younger, are we?)

So this is what I'll mainly be posting about on DA and Instagram - illustrations, comic panels, sketches, research and more. As well as some random artworks from time to time, and - you know me - a bit of fanartNod

I'm glad to be back, and would like to thank everyone for all the likes, faves and comments I keep getting even after all this time - those notifications always make me happy. As always, I'd love to hear your thoughts on my work, especially on the Ophiuchi... comic project, since it's still very much a work in progress. As I intend to find a publisher for this one, people's opinions are most valuable. Constructive criticism on art, story and characters are greatly appreciated!

Cheers, and see you very soon Woohooooo!

Hi everyone ! It's been a while since my last journal entry... Well, nothing has changed, really. I'm still a Tolkien-freak. I'm still drawing Dwarves and Hobbitses all day long, and watching LotR and The Hobbit every other night. But I thought I'd give you some news about what I'm currently working on !

(Oh, and I also wanted to thank all the people that left me super-adorable messages on my profile. Somehow I always forget to read them, and I tend to reply three months later, but every message and compliment on my art I get means a great deal to me ! I love you, guys !)

:bulletgreen: First, I know a lot of you guys are waiting for more Race Against Time artwork (thank you all, by the way, I'm glad you like it !). Fear not, it's coming ! I have at least 3 WIPs on my computer that need to be coloured, and a lot of sketches for the next chapters.

:bulletgreen: Second, I will very soon upload a lot of Fíli, Kíli and Thorin fanarts that I've made during my holiday in the South of France. As you can see, I'm not about to get tired of my little Dwarves, so expect many more Hobbit-related illustrations in the next couple of weeks.

:bulletgreen: Third, I've spent the last few months working on a comic book project. I think I'll start to post some character designs, doodles and information pretty soon, I might even open a blog dedicated to the project. Of course I'll let you know.

Well, that's it for now ! Now if you don't mind, Fíli and Kíli are waiting for me, they want to get coloured and Photoshopped. :woohoo: Cheers, everyone !

Okay, it's official : I'm obsessed. I'm so obsessed with The Hobbit movie. That happens to me every once in a while - I read a book, watch a movie, discover something new... and instantly fall in love. It happened 12 years ago with The Lord of the Rings ; as some of you might already know, I've been a HUGE LotR fan ever since I read the books and saw the first movie back in 2001. I was 11 years old... I'm 23 now, and I still love LotR and anything Tolkien-related with the same passion.

So obviously, I couldn't wait for The Hobbit to be released. I was both very excited and very nervous - what if I was disappointed ? What if it wasn't nearly as good as the first trilogy, what if it somehow tarnished all the feelings I had for LotR ? I was convinced that even if it was very cool, it just could not be as good as LotR - because to me,LotR is simply perfect. But I went to see it anyway, of course.

And OHMYGOD... As Thorin would say, "I have never been so wrong in all my life". It WAS perfect. It WAS everything I'd hoped for, everything I had expected, and much more. The characters were all brilliant - the fangirl in me remembers thinking, before seeing the film : "The Hobbit is going to lack some handsome, sexy characters like Aragorn, Éomer or Faramir...". And then Fíli, Kíli and Thorin walked through the door and I was like - :la: OK. Sorry I doubted you, Peter. (Thorin is definitely the new Aragorn. How can you not love him ?) Anyway, brilliant characters, and brilliant villains too ; I'd never thought I'd love an Orc so much, but Azog changed that. Yes, I do love this big, evil, albino baddie.

And of course, there was wonderful music. Amazing landscapes and  settings. A perfect mix of humour, adventure, danger, action and friendship. Great visual effects, great 3D, great 48 fps technique (yes, it's a real revolution !). I was delighted to see some of the LotR characters again - I don't care if they weren't in the book, I just liked the little cameo by Frodo and the others very much.  It was like seeing old friends again after a long time. I think I actually loved the movie more than I loved the book - it's the first time this ever happens.

So... I've already seen The Hobbit five times, four times in 3D/HFR and once in 2D/24fps. It's just one of these films I never get tired of - just like LotR (I watch my Extended Edition DVDs at least five or six times a year. Multiply that by 12 and you'll get an idea of how many times I've seen the movies... I told you I was obsessed. :D)

ANYWAY. The reason I'm telling you this here on dA is that of course, as an artist, my natural reaction to being obsessed is DRAWING. Drawing, painting sketching, doodling, even sometimes writing fanfiction (but that has nothing to do with DeviantArt, since I never post any texts here, only pictures.) So, for the past five weeks, I've filled an entire sketchbook with Hobbit fanart, and more specifically Durin family fanart. Yes, Thorin and his nephews are obviously my favourite characters (MA.JES.TIC.), I just can't help but drawing them again and again.

And since I was drawing Thorin, Thorin and more Thorin, I thought - why not make a short Thorin comic ? So that's what I' currently working on. The whole thing will be finished soon ; until then, I've uploaded a small preview here : fav.me/d5s41va (Shirtless Thorin = FANSERVICE. You're most welcome. :la:). I'm working on some Fíli/Kíli fanart too. Much more to come !

Wow, that was a long journal. Thanks for reading, guys. ;)

Hi everyone,

Mmmh, looks like I haven't written a journal in six months, it's pathetic... :stinkeye: Anyway, I'm not posting a lot of deviations these days for two reasons : 1) I'm very busy on a big illustration job and not allowed to show you any of my work yet ; 2) I'm working hard on a comic book project, which means right now, I write more than I draw. I will soon start to upload sketches and character designs, though.

And I went to see The Hobbit, after years and years of excitement... OHMYGOD, it was brilliant ! I've been a huge LotR fan for the last 12 years (wow, 12 years already...) and I was very afraid to be disappointed, but I wasn't. Peter Jackson is a genius, period. (And I loved the 48 fps technique used in the movie, although I do admit it was pretty disturbing for the first 10 minutes or so.)

Greetings from Stockholm - yes, I live in the country of Lisbeth Salander now. Love it. :la: And...

:star: MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone ! :star: (Click on the thumbnail for a bigger version of my Christmas card :))
